-Buddy Tetreault’s Official Electronic Press Kit, Biography

Background:

I met Buddy Tetreault and his parents in April of 2007.  That was the day I interviewed him and his family on my radio show in Panamá.  It was clear to my co-host and I that Buddy had a very special talent for playing the guitar, but it was also clear that he had the heart of a missionary.  That day we became friends, and have remained in contact ever since.  I am honored to present Buddy and his very talented fingers to you now.

About Buddy:

Buddy grew up travelling.  When he was young, his parents were engaged in raising funds as Christian missionaries to go on mission trips.  Memories of his childhood include, travelling around in the family’s motor-home visiting family, friends, and churches.  These are still treasured memories for him.  In 1998, they moved to Costa Rica.  Since then, as a full time missionary family, they have served throughout Nicaragua, and Panamá as well.

Musical style:

Buddy is a master fingerstyle player of both the guitar and banjo.  Even early on, his accomplished playing technique went far beyond his years of experience.  His unique styles include; Country, Bluegrass, Classical, Celtic, Flamenco, Latin, and just about every form of music on the planet.  His unique blend of styles reflect his eclectic musical interests.  You can enjoy hearing them through his CDs and at: www.youtube.com/user/BuddyGtr

Musical career:

For over a decade, Buddy has toured extensively in North America, Central America and Europe, performing in a range of events.  You can see here where he has played.  Along the way, Buddy has presented University level Master Classes in several countries including UNA, or Universidad Nacional” of Costa Rica, and performed in venues as varied as the “Teatro Nacional” of San José, Costa Rica, and festivals like the “XII Festival International de Guitarra, Costa Rica.”   He has also played at music industry trade events such as NAMM, and the Musikmesse, churches, schools, and weddings!  In addition, Buddy has also played on regional and national TV, and Radio broadcasts in: Costa Rica, Germany, Panamá, and the U.S.A.

He has also had the pleasure, and the honor of playing for:

  • The President of the Republic of Panamá
  • The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Panamá (Equivalent to the Speaker of the House in the U.S.A.)
  • Honorary Consul of Republic of Costa Rica to the Federal Republic of Germany
  • For numerous officials of the governments of the Republics of Costa Rica, Germany, Panamá and the U.S.A.

Discography:

I have had the opportunity to see Buddy perform for both small groups, and in concert settings.  One thing that I always notice is how well his playing is received.  Somehow the feeling of the music transcends a typical song being played on a guitar or banjo.  It is as if his personality is extended through the songs.  You too can experience this when you listen to his CD’s or maybe you will be lucky, and see him in person!
